Geddis Enterprises, one of Ireland’s most successful fireplace retailers, installers and manufacturing companies opens their new double storey 17,000 sq ft facility at Moira Road in the city on Friday 28 November.
Managing Director of Geddis, Alexander McLuckie believes the investment – even at a time of recession – will pay off. “Our aim was to create a destination experience for architects and interior designers as well as enhancing our offer to homeowners and developers, so we retained leading design consultancy Triplicate and award winning architects Hackett Hall McKnight to deliver showrooms which would become the benchmark in the industry. Feedback from the professional design fraternity has suggested there is a strong and current demand for this type of high-end niche approach to fireplace retailing. While the opening of a facility like this may be regarded by some as untimely we are really excited about the prospect of getting up and running.”
The workshop, warehouse and showroom complex is a strong design statement and boasts a Chesney's fireplace boutique, an extensive range of working gas fires and an exciting stove collection.
“Creating a flueing system for over 40 lit gas fires was a major technical challenge but we now have showrooms in which our exclusive brands from all over Europe can be fully appreciated and demonstrated,” says Alexander McLuckie. “With the rapidly increasing popularity of wood pellet and wood burning stoves, we have focused on this with an impressive array of both traditional and contemporary designs. Across our two floors we have something to suit every taste and budget from builder’s PC sum through to the most exotic”.
Commenting on the extent of the investment in the face of such a challenging economic climate, Sales and Marketing manager Nicola Flynn said: “The message I have been getting loud and clear from architects, interior designers and developers in the last couple of years is that they want access to the best designs and the latest innovations in the fireplace market demonstrated in surroundings where their clients can be inspired as well as getting sound technical advice.”
